Mang Sang Obituary – On April 20, 2024, a man was taken into custody by the Philadelphia Police after being involved in a fatal hit-and-run and stabbing incident that took place on April 8, 2024.
At around 7:40 pm on the mentioned date, officers from the 3rd Police District responded to a distress call reporting a person screaming at 1600 S. Front St. Upon reaching the scene, they discovered a 22-year-old male victim, later identified as Mang Sang from Philadelphia, pinned under a white KIA GT sedan.
The officers noticed that Sang had suffered a significant laceration on the right side of his neck and found a knife with blood traces on the ground near the vehicle. Sang was pronounced dead by Philadelphia Fire Department paramedics at 7:47 pm.
The investigation into the homicide revealed that the victim had engaged in a physical altercation with an unknown male suspect following an argument. It is suspected that the victim was stabbed during the altercation and then knocked down. The suspect proceeded to hit the victim with their own vehicle before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored car.
After the release of surveillance footage on April 18th, which partially captured the incident, the police received multiple tips identifying the suspect as 20-year-old Yel Win from Philadelphia.
Win surrendered himself to the PPD at 5:30 pm on the same day. The District Attorney’s Office has pressed charges against Win for murder, robbery, possession of an instrument of crime (PIC), tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.
