Daryus Bryant Obituary – Columbus authorities are currently conducting an investigation following a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a high school student from Meriwether County and the injury of another student.
The incident occurred late Saturday night, and the Columbus Police Department promptly responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Macon Road near Lake Shore Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles with gunshot damage and found individuals inside each car who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Both victims were immediately transported to Piedmont Hospital, where one of them, identified as Daryus Bryant, tragically succumbed to his injuries early Sunday morning. The other victim underwent surgery and is currently receiving medical care.
The Meriwether County School System expressed deep sadness and concern over the incident, identifying Bryant as a student of Manchester High School.
While they did not disclose the identity of the injured student, they assured the community that counseling and support services would be made available on campus to assist those affected.
The school district described Bryant as an exceptional young man who excelled in both academics and athletics, emphasizing their commitment to supporting one another during this challenging time.
They extended their heartfelt condolences to the Bryant family and expressed their thoughts and prayers for the injured student.
