Dustin Lorenzana Obituary – A motorist driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 40 passed away in a head-on collision near Amarillo in Potter County during the early hours of Saturday.
At approximately 1:36 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox was heading west in the eastbound inside lane of I-40, around four miles east of Amarillo.
Simultaneously, a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling east in the same inside lane, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The Equinox collided head-on with the truck. The DPS mentioned that the vehicle then moved into the center median and came to a stop against the cable barrier, facing southwest.
On the other hand, the truck moved into the center median, passed through the cable barrier, and entered the westbound inside lane facing east, where it came to a halt.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Dustin Lorenzana, 36, from Pampa, was declared deceased at the scene by Potter County Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson.
The other driver did not sustain any injuries. The incident is currently being investigated by the Texas Highway Patrol Troopers.
