Ismael Ontivaros Obituary, Man driving electric scooter dies after collision with car near Fairpark
Ismael Ontivaros Obituary – Ismael Ontivaros, a 41-year-old man, tragically lost his life in a collision with a car while riding an electric scooter on Sunday evening. The Salt Lake City Police Department has confirmed that this incident marks the fourth traffic-related fatality in the city in 2024.
Emergency medical care was administered at the crash site before Ontivaros was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The collision occurred when Ontivaros, riding a rented scooter, was traveling south on 800 West, while a 22-year-old man driving a car was heading west on North Temple Street. The driver of the car remained at the scene following the accident. The SLCPD received a 911 call reporting the crash at 8:56 p.m. on Sunday.
The SLCPD has stated that impairment may have played a role in the collision and further investigation is required to determine the exact cause.
As of Monday morning, no arrests have been made, and no citations have been issued. In cases involving severe injuries or fatalities, a multi-jurisdictional team is responsible for investigating the crashes, as per the protocols of the SLCPD.
