Shawn Elrod Obituary, Man Shot By Law Enforcement Officers At The Easley Walmart For Disturbance Report
A disturbance at a Walmart near Highway 123 resulted in a fatal shooting by police. The incident occurred on Sunday night and was reported to Easley police officers.
The officers arrived at the Walmart on Rolling Hills Circle after receiving a call about a man causing damage to the firearms counter and attempting to steal ammunition.
Around 7 o’clock, the officers confronted the man, whom they later identified as Shawn Elrod.
on April 21, the officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Elrod, who was armed with a non-gun weapon, was shot by at least one officer during the confrontation.
Sadly, Elrod died at the scene. Due to an ongoing investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division, Elrod’s exact weapon details are not known.
However, it has been confirmed that it was not a gun. As a precautionary measure, all customers and employees were evacuated from the store that night.
