The comedy scene in Austin, Texas, laments the passing of Nick Roche, one of its brightest stars.

Nick’s journey to becoming a stand-up comedian was as unique as his humor. Born and raised in Cheshire, Connecticut, Nick was a standout student at Cheshire High School, where his charm and humor endeared him to his classmates.

He pursued higher education at the University of Connecticut, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 2020.

While studying, Nick discovered his passion for stand-up comedy. He began attending open mic nights, honing his craft and refining his unique style.

With courage and determination, he made the bold decision to move to Austin in September 2020, drawn by its vibrant comedy scene and endless opportunities to grow as a comedian.

Balancing a career in engineering with his comedy aspirations, Nick quickly made a name for himself in Austin’s comedy clubs.

Renowned as “The Roast King of Austin,” Nick’s sharp wit and hilarious roasts endeared him to audiences and fellow comedians alike. He was known for his ability to find humor in the mundane, turning everyday observations into comedic gold.

Despite his rising success in comedy, Nick remained grounded and humble. He cherished his friends from Cheshire, whom he remained close to throughout his life. His family, friends, and colleagues remember him as a great listener, always ready with a joke to lift their spirits.

In 2023, Nick achieved a milestone in his career when he was featured on David Lucas’ National Tour. It was a moment of immense pride for Nick and his loved ones, who had supported him every step of the way.

His family was especially grateful to have the opportunity to see him perform in New York and Boston, witnessing firsthand the joy he brought to audiences.
