The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified Ivan Torres, a 32-year-old man who was fatally shot in an unincorporated area near Compton.
Homicide investigators and deputies from the Compton Sheriff’s Station responded to a shots fired incident at Atlantic Avenue and Rose Street in East Rancho Dominguez on Friday at 6:42 p.m.
The victim was found with gunshot wounds to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.
Another victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Two suspects were observed fleeing the scene, but no descriptions were available.
The motive behind the shooting remained unclear as investigators continued their inquiries.
