Authorities are on the lookout for the suspected shooter at William Wiley Elementary School, who is reported to have fatally shot his ex-wife, Amber Marie Rodriguez, and his girlfriend before abducting a one-year-old child, according to an Amber Alert issued by the Washington State Patrol.

The Amber Alert specifies that law enforcement is seeking Elias Huizar, aged 39, and Roman Huizar, aged 1.

Elias is believed to be traveling in a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla bearing Washington license plate CBZ4745 and may be headed towards Mexico.

According to the West Richland Police Department, Huizar is accused of shooting a woman at William Wiley Elementary School on Monday, April 22nd, and is alleged to have committed another homicide at his residence.

Additionally, he faces charges of child rape dating back to February and was scheduled to appear in court the same morning.

The initial shooting occurred approximately at 3:23 p.m. as students were being dismissed from William Wiley for the day, prompting several schools to be placed on lockdown.

Investigators warn that Huizar is considered armed and dangerous, with the potential to commit further offenses.

The public is urged to immediately contact 911 if Huizar is spotted.

Formerly employed as a Yakima police officer, Huizar was indicted in February on charges of child rape.

Although his trial was scheduled for Monday, April 22nd, court records indicate it was canceled.

Details from court documents regarding the February incident reveal that authorities received reports on February 3rd alleging a potential sexual assault by Huizar involving a teenager.

According to the reports, Huizar’s underage girlfriend allegedly caught him in the act of assaulting her 16-year-old friend at his residence.

Huizar served as a police officer for nearly nine years, from June 2013 to February 2022.
