Magnus The Therapy Dog’s owner Brian Benson loses wife Sari Elyse Schochet to suicide
Pound Ridge, NY resident Brian Benson, owner of TikTok and YouTube’s famous Magnus The Therapy Dog is mourning the loss of his wife and mother of his two children Sari Elyse Schochet Benson. According to Brian, Sari lost her fight with mental illness and depression. She died on Thursday, April 18, 2024, said Brain, while sharing the tragic news with his friends and followers on his Facebook page. “It is with tremendous pain that I am posting this. My wife Sari passed away Thursday morning. The girls and I are broken. Services will be tomorrow morning 04.21.24.”
53-year-old Sari Elyse Benson was a devoted wife to Brian and a dedicated mother to their children. Sari whose middle name was Schochet was born and raised in a community in New Jersey according to her LinkedIn profile. Sari, her husband, and two daughters lived in Pound Ridge with their popular 9-year-old yellow labrador retriever Magnus the Therapy Dog. Magnus went viral after Brian shared a video of him lying next to him at the hospital after he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a rare disease of the heart muscle.
Days after sharing the news of his wife’s demise, Brian Benson shared a plea on his Magnus The Therapy Dog’s Facebook page admonishing anyone battling depression to speak up or seek for help as suicide is never an option. “It is with a broken heart that I am posting this, My wife passed away last week and my two daughters and I are beyond devastated. My family will be taking some time off to process everything and begin the process of healing. If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health issues, please get help immediately.”
