Randall Robert Livingston Obituary – A shooting incident in Billings resulted in the death of a man who was found in a truck on Monday night. The victim has been identified as Randall Robert Livingston, aged 58. According to Yellowstone County Deputy Coroner Rich Hoffman, Livingston died from a gunshot wound to the neck.

The police discovered his body in a pickup truck in the Midtown area. As of Wednesday, no arrests have been made in connection with his death. The incident was reported to the Billings Police Department at around 10:15 p.m. on Monday when they received a call about an injured man in a parked truck on 15th Street West. Livingston was later confirmed to be the man in the pickup, and emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.

BPD Lt. Matt Lennick stated on Tuesday that the cause of Livingston’s death was determined to be homicide, and an investigation is currently underway. However, no arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning.

This year, there have been three homicides in and around Billings, including the deaths of a 24-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy. Charges have been filed in relation to both cases. In addition, a 17-year-old boy was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed at a residence in the South Side.

In 2020, the BPD investigated 14 homicides, some of which resulted in criminal charges being filed this year. The latest annual report on crime statistics from the BPD indicates a downward trend in violent crimes, such as murder, assault, and sex crimes, since 2020 and 2021.

The number of homicides investigated by the BPD reached its peak in 2020 with 22 cases. From 2021 to 2023, the department has averaged around 13 cases per year. Although the number of homicides in the city has decreased during this period, it remains higher than the 10-year average of approximately 10 cases per year.
