It is with profound sadness that the Clementon Historical Commission announces the passing of one of its founding members, Doris Venuti. A stalwart of the Clementon community, Doris dedicated her life to serving her town and preserving its rich history.
Born on December 4, 1929, Doris Venuti, aged 94, was a lifelong resident of Clementon, where she left an indelible mark through her tireless commitment to various civic organizations and community initiatives. Her impact was felt far and wide, as she touched the lives of countless individuals with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to service.
Doris’s journey of service began during her early years as the wife of a State Policeman and mother to three vibrant children. Even amidst the demands of raising a family, Doris remained deeply engaged in her community, becoming an active member of numerous organizations that sought to improve the lives of Clementon residents.
As the former secretary of Richard’s Real Estate in Clementon, Doris brought her unparalleled work ethic and attention to detail to every task she undertook. Her professionalism and dedication earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike, leaving an enduring legacy in the local business community.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Doris’s true passion lay in her civic engagement. She was a longstanding member of the Parent Teacher Association, where she advocated tirelessly for the educational needs of Clementon’s youth. Additionally, Doris played a vital role in organizing the Red Cross Blood Drive and served as a devoted member of the Clementon Environmental Commission, working to preserve the natural beauty of her beloved town.
One of Doris’s most significant contributions was her role as a co-founder of the Clementon Historical Commission, where she served as Board Secretary for nearly two decades. Her unwavering commitment to preserving Clementon’s rich history ensured that future generations would have the opportunity to appreciate and learn from the town’s past.
Doris’s dedication to her community extended beyond civic organizations to her involvement in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Laurel Springs. There, she served as a Deacon, Sunday School Secretary, and active member of the Presbyterian Women, embodying her deeply held faith through acts of service and compassion.
In addition to her remarkable professional and civic achievements, Doris leaves behind a loving family who will carry on her legacy of service and dedication. She is survived by her children Lynn (Don) Kirk, Richard (Connie) Venuti, and Jim (Bob Stratton) Venuti; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Marian (Bruce) Mumie; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were deeply touched by her love and guidance.
As we mourn the loss of Doris Venuti, we take solace in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Lew, whose memory she cherished dearly. Though her physical presence may be gone, Doris’s spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her legacy of service will continue to inspire generations to come.
