In a dramatic turn of events, a man from Glenn Heights has been arrested following a shooting incident that critically injured his brother in Red Oak. The incident occurred on Thursday at 5:54 PM at the Red Oak Town Village apartments.

According to the Red Oak Police Department, they were dispatched to the scene following a distress call from a woman stating that her boyfriend had been shot by his brother. The suspect also called 9-1-1, admitting to the shooting. Upon arrival, police attempted to approach the apartment where the incident took place but were met with a fleeing suspect.

The suspect, upon seeing the officers, exited the breezeway of the apartment and immediately started running. He jumped into a black 2020 Ford Eco Sport parked nearby in an attempt to escape. A chase ensued as one officer pursued the suspect’s vehicle with a patrol car while another officer tried to block his path. The pursuit ended within the apartment complex parking lot when the suspect’s vehicle collided with the patrol car.

After securing the scene of both the shooting and the crash, Red Oak Fire Rescue and Allegiance Ambulance crews attended to the injured. The shooting victim was urgently flown to a Dallas hospital by CareFlite air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, an officer involved in the vehicular crash was also transported by ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The 21-year-old suspect was apprehended, identified, and taken into custody. He has been charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, aggravated assault on a public servant, and evading arrest/detention with a vehicle. He was transported to the Red Oak Police Department where he was booked for the offenses.

The violent confrontation and subsequent police chase have shocked the local community, highlighting the rapid and coordinated response of the Red Oak Police in managing the volatile situation. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to understand the motives behind the shooting and ensure justice is served.
