Roberto Roman Death: Man fatally shot after altercation at northeast Fresno residence
Roberto Roman Death – The Fresno Police Department has identified the man who was killed on Sunday morning while visiting a home in Fresno. On April 28 at 12:59 a.m., the police received a report of a shooting victim at a residence on East Pryor Drive.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the reporting party, who informed them that her husband had shot someone in their backyard.
Upon entering the residence, officers found a 31-year-old individual lying on a couch. The individual appeared to be intoxicated and was immediately detained. A Glock handgun, registered to the 31-year-old, was discovered nearby on a kitchen countertop.
In the backyard, officers discovered the 30-year-old victim who had sustained a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The suspect, identified as Christian Lavin, is 31 years old, while the victim, Roberto Roman, is 30 years old. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and determined that the two men were friends. They had been drinking and wrestling in the backyard when the situation escalated. Lavin retrieved his firearm and, for reasons unknown, shot and wounded Roman.
Lavin has been taken into custody and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
