Sterling Baptiste Jr Obituary – The family of a Worcester teenager who was tragically killed in a shooting on Friday has set up a GoFundMe page to help with the preparations for his funeral.
In the description of the GoFundMe, Sterling Baptiste Sr. expressed the indescribable grief that the family is experiencing and their struggle to come to terms with the devastating loss of their beloved son, Sterling Baptiste Jr.
According to the Worcester police, they received a report of a possible shooting victim in the lower Belmont Street neighborhood at around 4:15 p.m. on April 26, 2024. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim inside an apartment with a serious gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of the officers and paramedics, the boy was pronounced dead.
On Saturday morning, a 16-year-old was arrested in connection with the shooting, and on Monday, another boy was also arrested. However, the police have not disclosed the identities of any other teenagers involved, including Sterling Baptiste Jr.
The GoFundMe was set up on Sunday to request support in giving Sterling Baptiste Jr. the farewell he deserves. Sterling’s father emphasized that his son was a wonderful individual who deserves a beautiful and proper send-off. He expressed gratitude for the generosity and prayers during this difficult time.
Currently, the GoFundMe has received 134 donations totaling $10,703, gradually approaching its $15,000 goal. Among the donors, “G and El Troiano” contributed $500 and expressed their unwavering support for the family.
Another donor, Christy Kosciolek, donated $100 and shared her deep sorrow upon hearing the tragic news, as her son had played football with Sterling.
The fundraiser has received heartfelt contributions, and the family is grateful for the support they have received thus far.
