La’sha Patrice Thomas Charged with Murder in Fatal Shooting of Husband Andre Derrel Perry at East Birmingham Home, Teen Son Present but Unharmed”.
A tragic incident unfolded in the 1500 block of Cedargate Circle, near the Spring Lake area of east Birmingham, on Tuesday evening, resulting in the loss of life and a murder charge for a local woman. La’sha Patrice Thomas, 38, has been charged with the fatal shooting of her husband, Andre Derrel Perry, 38, in their home.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers from the East Precinct responded to a reported domestic disturbance at the residence shortly after 10 p.m. While en route, they received an additional call reporting a shooting. Upon entering the home, officers found Perry unresponsive on the floor. Despite efforts by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service, Perry was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m.
The couple’s teenage son was present in the home during the incident but did not witness the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released any further details about the events leading up to the shooting or the circumstances surrounding it.
La’sha Thomas has been charged with murder and is currently in custody. The community is left to grapple with the devastating consequences of domestic violence, and support is being offered to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic event.
