Kaleb Brown Death: Family of slain 14-year-old seeks answers on anniversary.
Kaleb Brown Death – More than a year has passed since the tragic murder of a 14-year-old boy at a bar in Horry County, and the police are still working to make an arrest. On Monday, Kaleb Brown’s family released balloons in his memory, marking one year since he was shot at a bar in Horry County. However, they are frustrated by the lack of progress in his case and are seeking answers. Kaleb’s mother, Jenna Gore, expressed her ongoing pain, saying, “Yes, it has been a year, but it feels like it just happened because I haven’t found any closure. I couldn’t say goodbye or do anything. The next time I saw him, he was gone.”
His grandmother, Joyce Gore, shared her family’s deep sorrow and disappointment, feeling that they have been kept in the dark by the Horry County Police. She said, “He was a part of our family, and we loved him dearly. He was taken from us at such a young age, unable to speak for himself. That’s why we are here, to speak for him.”
According to Horry County police, they received a call around midnight on Saturday, April 29, 2023, regarding an incident at the former One N Done bar, now known as Cosmos, located near Cox Ferry Road off Highway 544. When officers arrived at the scene, they found no victims. However, it was later discovered that two individuals had arrived at the hospital with injuries.
Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirmed that Brown had died from a gunshot wound to the head at Seacoast Medical Center. WMBF News reached out to Horry County police for an update on Brown’s case, and a spokesperson stated that it is still an active investigation. To gather more information, WMBF News sent an additional email requesting further details.
In response, a spokesperson for the police department explained, “As is the case with any investigation, arrests are made when the individuals who are believed to be responsible, based on the evidence, are identified and located.”
