A Montgomery Police Department SWAT officer was involved in a shooting on Thursday afternoon, resulting in a man suffering life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 2:31 pm in the 4100 block of Troy Highway, where MPD SWAT was conducting an investigation.

According to Maj. Saba Coleman, spokeswoman for the MPD, the adult male was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, no officers were injured in the incident. The case has been handed over to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) for further investigation, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.

Sgt. Jeremy Burkett, spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, confirmed that the SBI is investigating the case and stated that more information will be released at a later time. The community is awaiting further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the status of the injured individual.
