The North Richland Hills Police Department is mourning the loss of Assistant Chief Kevin Palmer, who passed away on Tuesday afternoon after collapsing while on duty at the Police Department. Despite efforts by first responders and hospital staff, Palmer succumbed to his condition, surrounded by his loved ones.
Palmer had served the North Richland Hills Police Department since February 2004, rising through the ranks from sergeant to lieutenant, captain, and finally assistant police chief in July 2023. He was a decorated officer, receiving over 40 awards for police service throughout his career.
Officer Oscar Trevino, Mayor of North Richland Hills, remembered Palmer as a devoted servant leader who was cherished by the community and the Police Department. “Kevin will be remembered with affection, respect, and gratitude for his contributions to our community and his service,” Trevino said.
Throughout his career, Palmer was honored with numerous awards and commendations. He was a treasured member of the Police Department and the community, and his loss will be deeply felt. “It’s hard to imagine the leadership team without Assistant Chief Kevin Palmer,” said Trevino.
In addition to his service to the Police Department, Palmer was a veteran of the Aerospace Force. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and all those who knew and loved him.
As a final act of duty, Assistant Chief Palmer donated his organs, continuing to serve others even in death. Flags have been lowered at all city facilities in his honor, and the community comes together to mourn the loss of a truly remarkable individual.
