In a separate incident, a 56-year-old man from Monroe, North Carolina, Keith Rushing, lost his life in a two-vehicle collision in Florence County. According to Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken, the accident occurred on East Old Marion Highway around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rushing was driving a 2018 Jeep SUV when it was struck by a 2021 Jeep Gladiator that had entered the intersection. The Jeep driven by Rushing went off the road and flipped over, resulting in his death. A passenger in his SUV was taken to the hospital for treatment, while the occupants of the other Jeep were unharmed.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash, which occurred just east of Quinby. Master Trooper Brandon Bolt reported that Rushing’s Jeep was traveling south on East Old Marion Highway when it was hit by the other Jeep, which had entered the intersection.
