Darius Morris Obituary, Death; Former Wolverine NBA player dies at 33
Darius Morris Obituary, Death; – Tragic news struck the Michigan sporting community on Saturday afternoon with the untimely passing of Darius Morris at the age of 33.
TMZ reports that Morris was discovered in the Los Angeles area on Thursday, although specific details surrounding his cause of death have not yet been disclosed.
In a statement to TMZ, Morris’ family expressed their deep sorrow and announced the loss of their beloved son, Darius Aaron Morris. They kindly requested privacy and understanding during this difficult time of transition.
During his time as a Wolverine, Morris played a crucial role in John Beilein’s offense and excelled as Michigan’s point guard. Known for his exceptional passing skills, Morris led the Big Ten in assists during the 2010-11 season and received All-Big Ten honors for his outstanding performance.
He also set a U-M single-season assist record that year with 235 helpers, a record later surpassed by Trey Burke and Zavier Simpson.
Following his college career, Morris was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2nd round of the 2011 NBA Draft (No. 41 overall). He spent two seasons with the Lakers before moving between the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Brooklyn Nets over the next two years. Morris later played basketball in China and France before retiring.
