According to Lt. Gary Lewis of the Union Springs Police Department, the shooting incident unfolded after the Bullock County High School prom on Friday night, when teenagers gathered in the CVS parking lot off Baskin Street around 12:45 a.m. Saturday. Despite not attending the prom or an after-party, Tarver was present in the CVS parking lot when the gunfire erupted.
Investigators believe Tarver was shot while inside a small SUV and was subsequently transported to Baptist South by ambulance, where he tragically passed away from his injuries. Fortunately, it seems no one else was harmed in the incident. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities are still determining the motive behind the incident.
Although a person of interest has been identified in connection with the shooting, no arrests have been made at this time.
