Sharon Ries, the beloved wife of Pastor Raul Ries of Calvary Chapel Golden Springs, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her legacy of faith, resilience, and service to others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sharon was born on March 3, 1948, to missionary parents Edmund and Naomi Farrel, and spent her childhood and early adolescence in South America. Her experiences shaped her passion for missionary work and serving others.

Sharon’s life took a dramatic turn when she married Raul, who was not a believer at the time. She suffered emotional and physical abuse, but her faith and love ultimately led to Raul’s miraculous conversion. Their story has inspired countless people around the world through their books and movie, “From Fury to Freedom.”

Sharon was a dedicated servant of God, serving on the Calvary Chapel Pastors’ Wives Board and leading the Women’s Ministry at CCGS. She was also deeply involved in missionary work across South America, with a passion for seeing souls saved in remote regions.

Despite her own struggles and challenges, Sharon’s joy and love for Jesus and people were evident to all who met her. Her legacy continues through her husband, Raul, and their family, as well as the countless lives she touched through her ministry.
