14-Year-Old Arrested and Charged with Murder for Fatally Shooting 46-Year-Old Sherderick Jones Following Argument in 3400 Block of Clayton Drive, Baton Rouge Police Investigating

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder for allegedly shooting and killing 46-year-old Sherderick Jones following an argument in the 3400 block of Clayton Drive, off of Plank Road, on Monday, May 6, 2024.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD), officers responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m. and found Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 14-year-old and Jones had gotten into an argument, which escalated when the teenager allegedly retrieved a gun and shot Jones once.

The motive behind the argument is still unclear, and BRPD continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting.

The 14-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, is currently in custody and facing a murder charge.

BRPD officers are working tirelessly to gather more information and evidence, and are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
