A Blytheville man, Jamal Obryann Carter, 22, is facing serious charges after allegedly firing several shots at a victim during a fight at the Links Apartments in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on Saturday, May 4. Craighead County District Court Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Carter with criminal attempt, third-degree battery, and discharging firearms within city limits.

According to an affidavit, a witness reported that the victim was involved in a fight with multiple people before Carter shot at him. The witness stated that the victim then ran away from Carter, who got into a red truck and drove off. Meanwhile, other officers spoke with the victim, who reported that after being hit in the face, he began to run and heard someone say, “Shoot him,” followed by several gunshots.

The victim sustained minor bumps and scrapes above his right eye. The next morning, another victim reported that her vehicle had been damaged by a single round fired by Carter during the incident. Carter was arrested and taken into custody.

On Monday, May 6, Judge Boling set a $50,000 bond for Carter, who is scheduled to appear in court again on Friday, June 28. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
