Jermon Jackson, 26, Sentenced to Life in Prison Without Parole for Violent Crimes, Including Murder, Attempted Murder, and Gang-Related Offenses in Farmersville and Ivanhoe
Jermon Jackson, a 26-year-old gang member, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a string of violent crimes committed between 2017 and 2019. The crimes included murder, attempted murder, and gang-related offenses in Farmersville and Ivanhoe.
On April 19, 2017, Jackson and other gang members carried out a drive-by shooting of rival gang members in an Ivanhoe apartment complex parking lot, leaving one person injured. Just three days later, on April 22, 2017, Jackson and two other gang members shot and killed a suspected rival gang member walking on the street in Ivanhoe.
In addition to these crimes, Jackson was also involved in a drive-by shooting at a Farmersville residence on December 28, 2019, causing property damage but no injuries. Through a thorough investigation using cell phone evidence, witness accounts, ballistic evidence, and prior contacts with Jackson, law enforcement was able to arrest him.
On September 13, 2023, a jury convicted Jackson of murder, two counts of attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and three counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The jury also found true the special circumstance of drive-by murder and the special allegations that the crimes were violent, employed planning and sophistication, used a firearm, and caused great bodily injury.
In a separate verdict, the jury convicted Jackson of two counts of criminal gang conspiracy, the special circumstance of street gang murder, and found true that numerous crimes were committed to benefit a criminal street gang. While in custody in November 2021, Jackson committed an assault on another inmate with an improvised knife, for which he pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and received an additional sentence.
Jackson’s sentencing took place on May 3, 2024, in Department 10 of the Tulare County Superior Court, where he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The District Attorney’s Office of Tulare County hailed the sentence as a victory for justice and a testament to the hard work of law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
The community can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing that a violent gang member is off the streets and will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
