Tyrone Jones, 36, Ordered Held in McHenry County Jail on Multiple Felony Charges, Including Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of Illegal Drugs, Following Shooting Incident in Harvard Home.

Tyrone Jones, a 36-year-old felon, has been accused of shooting a man in the foot during an argument in a Harvard home on Saturday. Jones was charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery, and possession of illegal drugs.

According to Assistant State’s Attorney Julio Cantre, Jones and the 39-year-old victim argued before Jones pulled out a gun and shot him in the foot. When police arrived, Jones attempted to flee but was apprehended.

A search of Jones’ person revealed two plastic baggies containing cocaine and methamphetamine. Additionally, police found a small plastic baggie containing a white/blue powder-like substance in his left pants pocket, which tested positive for cocaine.

Inside the house, police allegedly found 81 oxycodone pills and eight individually packaged baggies with a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl. A black .32 caliber break-action revolver was also found, which Jones was not legally allowed to possess due to a prior felony conviction in Kane County in 2015.

At the time of the incident, Jones was on pretrial release on charges in Winnebago County. Assistant State’s Attorney Cantre argued that Jones poses a danger to the community and should be held in jail without bond.

Assistant Public Defender David Giesinger argued that Jones should be released on conditions, citing that some of his past charges had been dismissed or were still pending. Giesinger also suggested that the drugs found in the house may have belonged to others, as there were three people present at the time.

Judge Michael Feetterer ordered Jones to be held in McHenry County jail without bond, citing the seriousness of the charges and the danger Jones poses to the community.

Jones is due back in court on Thursday and faces Class X felonies, which carry a potential sentence of up to 30 years in prison. The victim was treated and released from the hospital, and the investigation is ongoing.
