Jean Ellen Thibodeau Obituary, Death New London Community Mourns the Passing of Beloved Resident Jean Ellen Thibodeau; Remembering a Life of Love, Faith, and Community Involvement
The New London community is grieving the loss of Jean Ellen Thibodeau, a cherished resident who passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 5, 2024, at the age of 74, following a brief illness. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and member of the community, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service.
Born on July 31, 1949, in New London, Jean was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Mertz) Wright. She attended Most Precious Blood Catholic School and graduated from New London High School in 1967. After high school, Jean began her career at Valley Bank before dedicating herself to raising her family.
Jean married David Thibodeau on October 30, 1971, in Manawa, and the couple initially resided in Appleton before returning to New London. As a stay-at-home parent, Jean was deeply involved in her children’s lives and actively participated in volunteer work at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena.
Jean’s passions included crafts, cooking, traveling, and playing card and board games. She was a talented and creative individual who brought joy to those around her. Her love for her family, faith, and community was evident in everything she did.
Surviving Jean are her husband, David, of Legend Lake; three sons, Michael (Sara) Thibodeau of Appleton, Tony (Beth) Thibodeau of Kaukauna, and Patrick Thibodeau of Appleton; granddaughters Blayne Otto and Kimberly Reese; brother Dan (Michelle) Wright of Foxborough, Massachusetts; and sister Barb (Bill) Hesser of Janesville. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Mary. Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Cherry Meadows Hospice for their compassion and care during her stay.
A funeral service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 12:00 pm, officiated by Father Hanz Christian. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the start of services. Interment will follow at Most Precious Blood Cemetery in New London.
The New London community comes together to mourn the loss of Jean Thibodeau, a beloved resident who touched countless lives through her kindness, generosity, and devotion. May she rest in peace, and may her family find comfort in the memories they shared with her.
Jean’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, and her family and friends will continue to celebrate her life and memory in the days and years to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or Cherry Meadows Hospice in Jean’s name, in gratitude for their care and support.
