The 57-year-old Muleshoe resident was driving a Toyota Camry out of a private drive off U.S. Highway 84 around 10:10 p.m. when she failed to yield right-of-way and pulled into the path of a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer. The driver of the semi, Clay Allen Hayes, 66, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was unharmed.
Harrison was taken to the Lamb County Healthcare Center, where she was later pronounced dead. According to the preliminary report, Hayes was wearing a seatbelt, but it’s unknown if Harrison was. The crash occurred at the intersection of FM 37 and U.S. Highway 84, where conditions were clear and dry, with a posted speed limit of 75 miles per hour.
