Derrick Slaughter Sr., SFC (RET) Wilbert Slaughter Sr., who transitioned from this life on May 2, 2024, at the age of 56. Born on July 19, 1967, SFC (RET) Wilbert Slaughter Sr. leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and cherished memories that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Stevens McGhee Funeral Home Chapel in Quitman, Georgia, where friends, colleagues, and acquaintances are welcome to pay their respects and honor his memory. The funeral service, a celebration of SFC (RET) Wilbert Slaughter Sr.’s life, will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 12:00 PM at the Union Cathedral Church, located at 1050 East Hill Avenue, Valdosta, Georgia 31602.
The service will be officiated by Pastor Bishop Wade S. McCrae, with Pastor Calvin Williams, Sr., serving as the eulogist. SFC (RET) Wilbert Slaughter Sr. will be accorded full military burial rites at Sunset Hill Cemetery, located at 1100 N.
