In the year 1873, educator William Sanford Rogers established the institution, which was subsequently named after him ². It was on Church Street that the first Rogers High School building was constructed ². In 1905, the school relocated to a facility on Broadway, and the previous structure was subsequently converted into the Thayer School and a Boys & Girls Club establishment ².
The school relocated to its current location on Wickham Road in 1957, and the space that had previously been occupied by the Broadway building was converted into the Thompson Middle School ².
