Josh Burns, a devoted husband, father, and member of the Sterling community, passed away on Friday night, May 10, 2024, at Summa Akron City Hospital, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was 37 years old.
Born on October 21, 1986, to Jim and Micki (Roberts) Burns of Akron, Ohio, Josh grew up with a strong work ethic and a passion for farming, inspired by his family’s farm in Canada. He attended Copley High School and graduated in 2005, participating in the Four Cities Compact in Construction.
Josh married Ashley Bauman on July 2, 2011, and they spent 13 blissful years together, raising their three cherished children, Eli, Hannah, and Leah. He worked as an equipment operator for the Wadsworth City Street Department and owned and operated J & A Angus Beef in Sterling.
A devout Christian and member of the Smithville Brethren church, Josh was a dedicated spouse and father, known for his unwavering commitment to his family and community. He recently fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a farm, where he could share his love of farming and workmanship with his family.
Josh enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, riding his motorcycle, and fixing anything that needed repair. He was a devoted parent, coaching his son’s baseball and football teams, encouraging his daughters’ cheerleading, dancing, and gymnastics performances, and assisting with the 4-H programs.
He is survived by his wife, Ashley Burns; children, Eli, Hannah, and Leah Burns; parents, Jim and Micki Burns of Copley; sister, Katie Burns of Copley; in-laws, Doug and Dianna Bauman of Rittman; sisters-in-law, Dara and Amber; nieces and nephews, Julia, Damon, Clark, and Sophie; maternal grandfather, David Roberts of Rittman; grandmother-in-law, Jeanie Stoller of Sterling; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Josh Burns left behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
