A devastating shooting incident at Five Star Auto Sales in Hervey City has claimed the life of 48-year-old Gregory W. Hostetler of Dalton City. The Macon County Sheriff’s Office identified Hostetler as the victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting occurred on Monday afternoon, leaving two others injured, including the suspect, 25-year-old Tiimon Perry.
According to Macon County Sheriff Jim Root, deputies responded to a shooting call near Five Star Auto Sales and found Hostetler and an 18-year-old gunshot victim, along with the suspect, who also sustained injuries. The additional victim and the suspect were transported to a hospital for medical care.
Hostetler and the 18-year-old victim, who co-own and operate Five Star Auto Sales and Greg’s Towing and Recovery, had earlier towed a vehicle belonging to Tiimon Perry. When Perry arrived at the business to reclaim the vehicle, a verbal dispute ensued regarding the towing fee, which escalated into a physical altercation. During the altercation, Perry reportedly produced a handgun and shot Hostetler in the head.
The 18-year-old victim attempted to disarm Perry and was shot in the shoulder in the process. After breaking free, he fired one round at Perry, hitting him in the testicular region. Perry is currently detained at the hospital and will be transferred to Macon County Jail for formal procedures upon his recovery.
The victim received medical treatment for the gunshot injury and has since been discharged. Perry is initially charged with first-degree murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Additionally, he has outstanding warrants for vehicular invasion and is sought by Decatur Police for vehicle invasion and aggravated fleeing and eluding. Further charges are expected to follow.
