Emily Somers Obituary And Death: Beloved U.S. Actress and Producer Succumbs to Aggressive Lung Cancer on May 16 at 38

Emily Somers, a talented and vibrant actress and producer from San Francisco, California, passed away on May 16, 2024, at the age of 38, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Her untimely death has sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry and her community, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, resilience, and inspiration.

Emily Somers, a true artist at heart, was known for her roles in Westworld (2016), The Last Thing He Told Me (2023), and Into the Valley (2023). She was a rebel with a cause, always unapologetically herself, and never afraid to stand out from the crowd. Her love for The Beatles and Nirvana over N*Sync, and her parents’ sense of fashion over Abercrombie, was a testament to her unique spirit and individuality.

Tragedy struck in July 2023, when Emily was diagnosed with lung cancer, specifically NUT midline carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Despite the initial shock and disbelief, Emily faced her diagnosis with courage and determination, undergoing a grueling treatment regimen that included radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and surgery.

Throughout her ordeal, Emily’s husband, Geordie Robinson, was her rock, providing unwavering support and care. Together, they faced the challenges of cancer, and their love and devotion to each other inspired all who knew them. A GoFundMe page was set up by Gillian Starkey and Taylor Sundby to support Geordie and Emily during this difficult time, with the goal of helping to alleviate the financial burden of medical expenses.

Emily’s life was profoundly disrupted by the news, which particularly affected Geordie, her devoted and supportive spouse and companion of ten years. Instead of participating in film festivals to promote the film in which she had recently completed writing, producing, and starring, Emily underwent an arduous course of action that included radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and a major surgical procedure to remove a lung lobe.

Following months of perseverance, Geordie and Emily were compelled to take an extended period of leave from work in order to attend to Emily’s health. Sundby and Starkey desired to assist them in overcoming the financial distress. They maintained the view that the most beneficial method to demonstrate affection and assistance was by means of a donation, regardless of its magnitude.

The outpouring of love and generosity from friends, fans, and strangers alike has been a testament to the impact of Emily’s life and legacy. Emily Somers may be gone, but her memory will live on through her work, her loved ones, and the countless lives she touched. Her courage, resilience, and creativity will continue to inspire generations to come, and her untimely passing will not be in vain.
