Jim Beardmore, a former All-American lacrosse goalie and esteemed coach, tragically passed away on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, at the age of 87, in Annapolis, Maryland. The Maryland lacrosse community is reeling in shock and grief, mourning the loss of a true legend in the sport.

Jim Beardmore was a beloved figure in the lacrosse world, known for his exceptional skills as a goalie and his dedication to the sport. He was the son of Clayton “Buddy” Beardmore, a former University of Maryland coach and Lacrosse Hall of Fame inductee. Jim’s impressive lacrosse career spanned multiple decades, earning him numerous accolades, including the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Award as the NCAA’s Goalie of the Year in 1987.

Jim’s achievements on the field were matched only by his passion for coaching. He led the Denver Outlaws to victory as head coach in the 2007 season and guided numerous high school teams, including Severna Park and Colorado Academy, to success. His impact on the lives of countless young athletes and his contributions to the sport of lacrosse are immeasurable.
