Jesse Eugene Sala Obituary and Death: Robert Morris University Student Dies Unexpectedly at 21 – A Promising Life Cut Short

Jesse Eugene Sala, a 21-year-old rising senior at Robert Morris University, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of academic excellence, leadership, and a profound impact on his community.

Born on August 17, 2002, in Barberena Santa Rosa Guatemala, Jesse was a shining star in the world of academia. He graduated with honors from Ringgold High School in 2021 and was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) in accounting and a Master in Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a certificate in Data Analytics at Robert Morris University.

Jesse’s academic prowess was matched only by his leadership skills, which he demonstrated through various positions on campus. He served as the President of the Residence Hall Association, Vice President of the Class of 2025, and Lead Community Advisor in the Office of Residence Life. His dedication to his studies and extracurricular activities was unparalleled, and he was an active member of the RMU Honors Program, the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Association of Future Accountants, and Beta Gamma Sigma.

Jesse’s love for his community was evident in his involvement with the Dairy Queen gang in Charleroi, where he cherished the relationships he built. His friends and family remember him as a bright light, a truly exceptional person who made a profound impact on those around him.

Jesse is survived by his parents, John E. Sala, Jr. and Jackie DeBlassio Sala; his sister, Lesly V. Sala; brother, Nathan L. Sala; paternal grandmother, Monica Sala; maternal grandparents, Johnetta and Dr. Joseph DeBlassio; bonus grandparents, John and Anne Olexik; uncle and aunt, Donald M. and Denise Cortese; cousins, Francesca Cortese, Donny and Aimee Trunzo, and their families; aunt and uncle, Jeanene and Mark Marsico; cousins, Isabella and Anna Marsico; aunt and uncle, Jodi and Steve Dusi; cousins, Gabby and Gianna; uncle, Joe DeBlassio; and cousin, Joseph Jayden DeBlassio.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Jesse’s life on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Frye Funeral Home, 427 W Main Street, Monongahela. Funeral prayers will be recited on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela, co-celebrated by the Revs. Kevin Dominik and Thomas Kadlick. Entombment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Monongahela.

Jesse’s passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched. His family, friends, and community will deeply miss him, but they take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to inspire and motivate others.

In Jesse’s honor, his family requests that donations be made to the Robert Morris University Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial assistance to students pursuing a degree in business administration.
