Ryan Kowitz, a 20-year-old student at Louisiana State University (LSU) from Marietta, Georgia, has tragically passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, leaving behind his loving family and a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication. Ryan Kowitz was born on November 24, 2003, to Dave Kowitz and Stephanie McMahan, and he quickly grew into a vibrant and dedicated young man who touched the lives of many. He had just completed his second year at LSU after graduating from Walton High School in Georgia in 2022. Ryan was an active member of the Sigma Chi fraternity at LSU, where he formed lifelong friendships and contributed to the fraternity’s positive spirit. He also worked at the LSU Alumni Hall, demonstrating his dedication to supporting his school and its alumni.

Ryan’s summers were spent working at the Center Ice Arena in Sandy Springs, Georgia, where he developed a passion for ice skating and hockey. He was an adventurous spirit who enjoyed snowboarding, spending time on the lake, and had recently taken up golf. Ryan was known for his unwavering loyalty and readiness to help, always there for his loved ones, no matter the situation.

Ryan is survived by his father Dave (Elizabeth) Kowitz, mother Stephanie (J.T.) McMahan, sister Katelyn Kowitz, stepbrothers David Carroll, Sam Carroll, Jacob McMahan, and stepsister Grace Carroll. He is also survived by his grandmother Pamela Kowitz and grandfather/grandmother Peter/Faye Lenox.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 6, at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Road NE, Marietta, GA 30068.
