Known for her infectious spirit and a profound love for life, Kendal’s departure leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Kendal was born on December 13, 1994, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Loren and Elizabeth Borning. From the moment she entered the world, she demonstrated incredible resilience. Born prematurely, weighing only three pounds, Kendal faced significant challenges in her early days. After spending eight weeks in Sanford Hospital, she returned home, thriving as a robust six-pound infant. Her strength and determination became defining traits that she carried throughout her life.
Growing up in Echo, Minnesota, Kendal was not only loved by her family but also deeply embedded in her community. She was confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church, a place that held special significance for her and where she developed her strong moral values and sense of community. Her education at Granite Falls High School culminated in her graduation in 2013, a milestone celebrated by her loving family.
Following high school, Kendal pursued higher education with vigor, ultimately earning a degree in Business. This accomplishment set her on a successful career path in the banking industry. Over the years, she gained valuable experience working in various banks, including positions in Colorado Springs, CO, and Aberdeen, SD, before settling back in Sioux Falls. At the time of her passing, she served as a Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant at First Bank and Trust, where her dedication and professionalism shone brightly.
Kendal’s passion for music and community service led her to a part-time position at the Denny Sanford Auditorium. This role allowed her to indulge in her love for concerts while also supporting events that brought the community together. Her enthusiasm for live music was infectious, and many cherished memories were created as she attended concerts with friends and family.
Kendal was more than just a dedicated professional; she was a vibrant and adventurous spirit. Her love for travel and exploration led her to numerous concerts across the country, and she often documented her adventures with her beloved Miniature Dachshund, Axle, by her side. Their bond was palpable, and Axle was not just a pet but a true companion who brought joy to Kendal’s life.
One of Kendal’s most cherished traditions was her yearly combine rides with her father during the fall harvest. This time spent together on the family farm was a testament to her love for agriculture and family, bringing her immense happiness and connection to her roots. Those who knew her could always count on Kendal for a laugh, a listening ear, or a spontaneous adventure, making her an unforgettable presence in their lives.
Kendal is survived by her loving parents, Loren and Audrey Borning, and her brother Shane (and Katrina) Knutson, along with her nieces Lily and Arya. She also leaves behind her sister Michelle (and Jason) Wetsch and their daughters Sylvia, Vivian, and Norah. Her extended family includes numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were profoundly touched by her kindness and vivacity. Kendal’s family was central to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Tragically, Kendal’s life was cut short when she was involved in a motorcycle accident that shocked her community.
