A Journey from California to Massachusetts

Alice Marie (Smith) Shimmel was born in Merced, California, on December 18, 1951, the only daughter of the late Donald E. and Marceline (Souza) Smith. Raised and educated in California, Alice’s family later moved to Vermont, where she graduated from Rochester High School. Following her education, Alice relocated to Massachusetts, where she attended Beth Israel Dental School and pursued a career as a dental assistant.

A Love Story at Hampton Beach

It was during a visit to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, that Alice met the love of her life, Jack Shimmel. Their connection was instant, and they soon embarked on a journey of love and companionship that would span over four decades. On September 4, 1976, Alice and Jack exchanged vows at St. Anne’s Church in Littleton, solidifying their commitment to each other in marriage.

A Career of Service and Dedication

Alice dedicated many years of her life to serving the Littleton community as the Cafeteria Manager for the Littleton Public Schools. In this role, she not only managed the cafeteria operations but also enjoyed interacting with students, faculty, and parents alike. Alice’s warmth, kindness, and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Alice Marie (Smith) Shimmel was known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering compassion.
