SHOOTING, Obituary – Haverhill Murder-Suicide: Victims Identified as Authorities Investigate Shooting Incident at 195 Broadway in Haverhill, Massachusetts
The Haverhill Police Department, along with the Haverhill Fire Department and PrideStar Emergency Medical Services, responded to a welfare check call at 195 Broadway around 5:43 p.m. on March 3, 2024. Upon arrival, they discovered a tragic scene: a male and a female had been fatally shot inside the property, indicating a possible murder-suicide.
The call that prompted the welfare check was received by the Haverhill Police Department, as confirmed in a joint press release by Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Haverhill Police Chief Robert P. Pistone. Additionally, emergency services found a second victim with gunshot wounds, prompting PrideStar EMS to respond with extra personnel.
Given the nature of the incident, the Haverhill Police Department requested assistance from the Massachusetts State Police, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, and the medical examiner’s office. Presently, the investigation is proceeding under the assumption of a murder-suicide. Eyewitnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots and screaming, with one neighbor recounting seeing a female followed by a male entering the residence just before the shots were fired.
As the investigation unfolded, law enforcement agencies focused their efforts on the third level of the property, where the victims resided. Haverhill Animal Control removed the dogs left behind by the victims, while a vehicle was also seized from the scene for further investigation. At approximately 10:30 p.m., the medical examiner’s office removed the victims from the scene, surrounded by grieving friends and family members for support.
The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, with detectives from the Haverhill Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, leading the efforts.
