In Cloverleaf, a 12-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a shooting at an apartment, as reported by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Monday at the Crossings at Alderson apartments, situated on Alderson Street close to Freeport Street, near the North Shore Ninth Grade Campus.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that the boy was asleep in his bedroom with two other children, 6- and 7-year-old girls, when an individual approached the bedroom window and began firing shots.

Tragically, the 12-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members have circulated a photograph of the deceased boy. Investigators indicated they suspect the shooting was deliberate.

“Whenever it involves a child, the pain is intensified,” remarked Gonzalez. “It’s truly heart-wrenching to think this child should have been preparing for school soon, but unfortunately, that won’t happen.”

He added, “If they’re willing to harm a 12-year-old, their capacity for further violence is unknown. We must remove them from our streets.”

The boy’s mother and another adult male were present in the apartment during the shooting, as per HCSO. Fortunately, no one else sustained injuries.

The perpetrator fled the scene, according to Gonzalez. Deputies are currently searching for a pickup truck observed leaving the vicinity.

Surveillance footage from a nearby establishment captured a pickup truck speeding away from the apartment complex around the time of the incident.

However, authorities have yet to verify if the truck in the video is linked to the shooting.

Gonzalez expressed deep concern over the tragic loss, emphasizing the potential the 12-year-old had, stating, “Here’s a child, ready to attend school, about to embark on a journey of promise.”

He lamented the senselessness of gun violence, underscoring its devastating impact on the community. Gonzalez urged anyone with information to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in addressing such incidents.
