David Granger Obituary News: Former Player Of Port Adelaide, David Granger, Passed Away At 69
The Port Adelaide Football Club is very saddened by the loss of David Granger, a two-time premiership player, who passed away yesterday at the age of 69.
Granger participated in 103 games for Port Adelaide, mostly as a key striker, between 1975 and 1982. He participated in three 1979 St. Kilda games in between.
According to Matthew Richardson, the CEO of Port Adelaide, Granger has had health problems recently.
“The Port Adelaide Football Club extends its condolences to David’s daughter Carly and family,” Mr. Richardson said.
“David had battled health issues in recent years and it’s sad to learn of his passing.
“David was an incredibly talented player during Port Adelaide’s reign in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
“He was a modern-day type player, 188 centimetres tall, athletic and strong. David was exceptionally talented and was instrumental in the club’s drought-breaking 1977 Grand Final victory.”
Cunningham recalled Granger from his playing days as a devoted team player who always had Port Adelaide at heart, despite the negative perceptions surrounding him.
