Birkley Heynen Obituary, Athens GA Cause of Death – University of Georgia student died in Puerto Rico.

Birkley Heynen Death – University of Georgia student Birkley Heynen of Athens, Georgia has sadly passed away. He died while on a Spring Break trip with a group of friends in Puerto Rico. He was confirmed dead through a post shared on the Oconee County High School Warrior Marching Band group that says “I am extremly saddened to relay this news. Recent WMB alum Birkley Heynen passed away suddenly this week”. As at the time of this report, the actual cause of Birkley Heynen’s death has not been known.

Birkley Heynen Education

Through his attendance at Oconee County High School, Birkley Heynen was able to earn his diploma in May of 2021. After that, he continued his education at the Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia, where he earned a degree in ecology as well as a certificate and diploma in sustainability. It was his intention to pursue a research that would investigate the preservation of marine and freshwater ecosystems while he was attending graduate school. Between the months of June 2016 and June 2019, he served as a counselor at the Jekyll Island Sea Turtle Center Summer Camp for a total of three years and one month.

Birkley Heynen Career

Between the months of October 2020 and April 2022, he was employed at Jittery Joe’s Coffee as a Barista for a period of one year and seven months. at a period of eight months, beginning in January 2022 and ending in August 2022, he worked as an intern at Shell to Shore Intern, a non-profit organization based in Athens that aims to reduce the quantity of waste shells that are dumped in landfills and instead return the shells to the coast.

During the period of time spanning from August 2022 to May 2023, he served as the Compost Manager at UGArden, an organic agriculture farm located on the campus of the University of Georgia. In the period beginning in August 2021 and ending in August 2023, he worked as a member of the research staff at Sasaki Research Lab. Over the course of four months, beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023, he worked as an Urban Agriculture Intern at the University of Georgia Office of Sustainability.

During that time, he was responsible for the upkeep of the Geography Green Roof as well as the organization of orientation activities for the Office of Sustainability during the summer of 2023. At Classic City Cycling, he worked as an intern in the front desk staff and in the social media department. Following that, he worked as a Shell to Shore Paid Intern commencing in January of 2024 when he was located.
