Dale Sands Obituary, Death – Melvin Dale Sands, 89, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away at the Bothwell Regional Health Centre in Sedalia on Saturday, December 29, 2018. He was born in Sedalia on August 17, 1929. His parents, H. B. and Mary Irene (Shull) Sands, passed away before him.
He married Mary Ann Curry on August 17, 1954, in Miami, Oklahoma. She passed away on October 9, 2017. During the Korean War, Dale gallantly served his country in the US Army. While attending Central Missouri Teachers College in Warrensburg and earning his master’s degree in early childhood education, he worked at night for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
Dale spent many years as a teacher in the Sedalia #200 School District. He worked as a teacher at Horace Mann, Whittier, Washington, and Mark Twain. Along with travelling, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. In public, Dale was always approached by one of his students asking him if he remembered being their teacher.
For many years, Dale was a dedicated member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. For many years, he was also a member of the Sedalia American Legion #642 and the Sedalia VFW Post #2591.
Among the survivors are three granddaughters, Hope, Jessica, and Chloe; three brothers, Jerry Sands and wife Annie of Grandview, MO, and Ralph Sands and wife Mildred of Belton, MO; and a son, Robben Sands and wife Lorna of Scotland. Sandra Ann Sands, his daughter, passed away before him in addition to his parents and spouse.
On March 11, 2007, in Fort Washington, PA, was DALE W., 64 years old. The late William H. Sands and Julia S. Barner’s beloved son. The brother of Evelyn Guidotti and Tom Sands. At the convenience of the family, a memorial service will be performed.
