Kathy Albrecht Obituary, Death – In the early morning hours of March 8, 2024, Kathryn Lynn Albrecht, who had formerly resided in Readlyn and was now residing in Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away. Meier, Merwin, and Glennis Meier had their first child, Kathy, on June 1, 1949.

She was the first of three children. Both her baptism and confirmation took place at Zion Lutheran Church in Readlyn, Pennsylvania, on June 19, 1949 and April 7, 1963, respectively. She received her diploma from Wapsie Valley High School in 1967 and then moved to Des Moines for a brief period of time after she graduated from high school.

After moving back to Readlyn, Kathy enrolled in Gates Waterloo Business College and started her professional life at John Deere in October of 1974. Previous to her retirement in September 2009, she had a variety of positions at that organization. Zion Lutheran Church in Readlyn served as the location for the wedding ceremony that took place on March 1, 1985, between Kathy and Floyd W. Albrecht, Jr. Until Floyd’s unexpected death in 1999, the couple was able to raise their two children, Nicole and Dustin, together.

Kathy took great pleasure in adorning her home appropriate for each and every season and holiday. A number of days would be required to finish her Christmas decorations, which were unparalleled in their quality. Additionally, she was quite skilled in the arts of cross stitching, knitting, crocheting, and quilting.

Kathy crocheted a large number of baby blankets for several people, including members of her family, friends, and even people she only knew via the stories that her children told her. Throughout her life, Kathy placed the utmost importance on her family.

She did not miss a single one of Nicole and Dustin’s events during their younger years, assuming she ever missed any of them at all. There was no part of the state that she did not follow them to. Additionally, she continued this quest with her granddaughters by attending each and every t-ball game, dance performance, track meet, and concert that they participated in.

The time that Kathy’s grandchildren spent with her on the weekends, playing Uno and watching movies, was another thing that she cherished. She placed a high value on events that brought her family together, and the Meier Christmas celebrations were consistently among the most memorable moments of her year.

In 2019, Kathy relocated to the Martin Center, which is located in Cedar Falls. She was always willing to provide an ear, and as a result, she automatically established a large number of friends among both the staff members and the other residents.

In addition to her daughter, Nicole Earle, and her son, Dustin Albrecht and his wife, Casey, Kathy is survived by her three granddaughters, Kennedy Albrecht, Emmalyn Earle, and Leslie Albrecht; her sister, Brenda Feckers and her husband, Dave Hunt; her brother, Rick Meier and his wife, Lisa; her sister-in-law, Rita Nims and her husband, Gary; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, her husband Floyd, and her brothers-in-law Glenn Albrecht and Earl Albrecht, she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd.
