UPDATE: One person has life-threatening injuries from a gunshot that happened on Monday afternoon near Evergreen High School in White Center, according to sources. The incident happened at around 2:30 p.m., and King County Fire District No. 2 units responded right away. Emergency personnel found the wounded person on SW 114th Street when they arrived. They quickly moved the injured person to a more private location so they could receive more advanced medical care.
First responders from King County stated that officials had not yet identified the shooter as of 4 p.m. It’s important to note that, according to information from the Highline School District, the incident did not occur on school property. Still, as a precaution, Mount View Elementary implemented a modified lockout, while Evergreen High School and Cascade Middle School were placed under lockdown. Since then, all lockdown procedures have been lifted.
Due to the disturbance created by dismissal delays, the incident resulted in delays for afternoon bus services, which in turn affected drop-off schedules.
