Randy Howard Obituary, Death – Recently, on March 8, 2024, Randy Dennis Howard, who was 55 years old and had been born in Charleston, South Carolina on August 11, 1968, passed away in Canton, Georgia. At the Ocheyedan Methodist Church, there will be a visiting on Thursday, February 15th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The family will be there from 5:00 to 8:00 PM during this time.
On Friday, February 16th, at 10:30 AM, there will be a funeral service performed in the Ocheyedan Town Hall. Pastor Steve Swenson will preside over the ceremony. A subsequent interment will take place in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery. In charge of the services is the Jurrens Funeral Home, which is located in Ocheyedan.
Sibley, Iowa was the location where Randy Rae Howard was born on August 10, 1953. He was the son of Ervin W. Howard and Anna Mae Ellen (Jacobs) Howard. In Ocheyedan, where he was raised, he received his education in the village school. After receiving his diploma from Ocheyedan High School in 1971, he continued his schooling at NWICC, where he received training to become a power lineman.
On November 17, 1973, in Round Lake, Minnesota, he and June Fricke exchanged their vows and became husband and wife. Todd and Tonja were the two children that they were blessed with, and they lived on an acreage that was located southeast of Ocheyedan, Iowa. Over the course of his career, he worked at CD Farm Service, Star Energy, Coop Energy, and most recently at CFE. He also worked as a dairy farmer and milker. In December of 2018, he took his retirement. In addition to his professional life, he was the proprietor of Howard Construction.
Within the Ocheyedan congregation of the United Methodist Church, he was a member. In addition to playing bass guitar for a number of local bands, he enjoyed outside activities such as hunting, fishing, and archery. In addition to that, he was highly involved with the Mainstreet Players Theater and served as a leader for the Boy Scouts.
In addition to that, he enjoyed going on camping excursions, riding motorbikes, delving into genealogy, and working with wood. He and June played cards for a considerable amount of time. Randy, who was also known as “Papa Howie,” was a man who could be found attending any and all of the activities that his grandchildren participated in since they were the joy of his life.
Randy received a diagnosis of lung cancer and fought valiantly against the illness until the day he died away, which was this past Monday, February 12, 2024. He was 70 years old. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, June Howard, who resides in Ocheyedan, Iowa; two children, Todd Howard and his wife Sara, who reside in Sibley, Iowa; Tonja Howard, who lives in Sanborn, Iowa, with her special friend Marshall Peterson and Marshall’s daughter, McKinley; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Brooke, Ella, and Aden; his mother, Anna Mae Howard; a sister, Dee Redinius, who is married to Mike, and resides in Sheldon, Iowa; a brother, Tom Howard, who resides in Ocheyedan, Iowa; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other members of his other extended family.
His father, Ervin Howard, as well as his two brothers, Terry and Brian Howard, as well as his in-laws, Norman and Gladys Fricke, as well as his brother-in-law, Steve Fricke, and his nephews, Cassidy Voss and Jared DeBerg, all passed away before him.
