The Lakeland Police Department is currently investigating a homicide following the discovery of a deceased 3-year-old in Lakeland on Monday.
LPD reports indicate that officers were called to 1850 Cambridge Cove Circle at approximately 6:34 p.m., where they found two individuals injured from gunshot wounds.
Upon arrival at the accident site, both the Lakeland Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue promptly initiated life-saving procedures.
Tragically, one of the individuals, a 3-year-old, was confirmed deceased at the scene.
The second victim was identified and subsequently transported to Lakeland Regional Health with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
The Lakeland Police Department additionally reported that a third individual was later brought to Lakeland Regional Health by a private vehicle and pronounced deceased.
The department has scheduled a new press conference at 11:30 a.m. to provide updates on the case.
