Alyce was able to effortlessly arrange large holiday spreads and meals for her family, and she took great delight in doing so even if it was a challenge for her. One of the dishes that everyone in the family enjoys eating is her 5-cup salad, in addition to her cornbread.

She took great pride in the fact that she was able to arrange get-togethers of her family and friends, whether it was for meals, parties, or even just for coffee and conversation. Her pattern consisted of going to the beauty shop on Friday mornings to get her hair straightened, and then she would have lunch with the other girls at the cafeteria. This was a regular that she established for herself.
