Callers reported an incident at the Walmart located at 1731 East Avenue J, stating that a male Black adult, aged 18 to 20, wearing a red sweater and black backpack, was actively shooting at the location.
Units from Lancaster and Palmdale are en route with lights and sirens activated.
The suspect is reportedly fleeing toward Park Circle Apartments.
Deputies have found casings on the ground at the scene. Law enforcement is securing the area, locking down 17th to 20th Street East from Avenue J to Avenue J-4.
One individual, possibly matching the suspect’s description, has been detained at gunpoint at Taco Bell. However, the detained person at Taco Bell has been determined to be a negative match.
Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
