Richard Dailey Obituary, Death – After a short illness, Richard Allen Dailey, 88, of 1051 Dailey Road, Blanch, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at AuthoraCare Collective, Burlington, NC. On February 2, 1936, Richard Dailey was born to Edith VanAllen Dailey and the late I. G. Dailey, Sr. Life in Caswell County was mostly devoted to him. After finishing high school, Richard went on to Bartlett Yancey.
A 30-year veteran of the North Carolina Department of Corrections, he kept his job. Despite his retirement, he continued to work part-time for another decade. Hobbies for Richard included hunting, working the farm, and riding horses. The Caswell Brotherhood Lodge #11 was his fraternity. Churchgoers at Purley United Methodist Church included Richard.
Married to the house’s surviving resident, Billie McLendon Dailey, he wed her on May 19, 1956. Three sons—Allen (and Jenny) Dailey of Sumter, SC; Rick (and Nancy) Dailey of Burlington, NC; and Tracy (and Niki Hodges), a former daughter-in-law—are among Richard’s surviving relatives. He also leaves behind a brother—I. G. (Graham) Dailey—and his wife June of Blanch,
NC; a sister—Lee Jean—and her husband Don of Florida; seven grandchildren—twelve great-grandchildren—and a great-great-grandchild.
At Purley United Methodist Church, 4011 Old NC Hwy 86, Yanceyville, NC 27379, the Rev. Chuck Frost will officiate Richard’s graveside services on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. From 12:30 to 2:00, there will be a visiting at the church before the service.
A memorial contribution to Caswell Brotherhood Lodge#11 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital Research Hospital, c/o Todd Smith, 2502 West Front Street, Burlington, NC 27215 or Memphis, TN 38101 would be appreciated in lieu of flowers, according to the family’s desire.
